REASON /
During operation of SR 3000 J propeller on direct-drive engines, there was one case of separation of single blade root. Analysis of material used in manufacturing the propeller has shown that a fault (ingress) was present, and a fatigue crack has spread from this defect, finally causing separation of the blade. Documentation of damaged propeller has shown that periodic inspections prescribed by the manufacturer had not been performed in the past.
Based on this accident, Woodcomp issues the following directive:
Two-blade and three-blade propellers, SR 3000-J, serial numbers listed above, must be sent to manufacturing plant for inspection. Dye penetration test will be performed on all blade roots, and x-ray of material will be performed as well. Should faulty material be discovered, parts will be replaced with newly manufactured parts.
FUNDING OF MANDATORY CHECKS
Funding of mandatory checks :
If all directives concerning mandatory inspections of the propeller, stated in propeller manual and/or posted on Woodcomp bulletin service, have been complied with throughout its operation, manufacturer will cover the costs of transport of complete propeller, and possible replacement of parts..
Should user ignore this directive, Woodcomp rejects any responsibility for operation of propellers not inspected.
